ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATE STUDENTS AND ALUMNI (AGSA)
HISTORY
The Association of Graduate Students and Alumni (AGSA) of UP NCPAG started out when a proposal was conceptualized sometime in July 1998 in response to one of the college professors' call for graduate students to get organized. The initial feedback was encouraging that paved the way for the said proposal to be considered, revised, and subsequently discussed for its eventual implementation.
In December 1998, the draft Constitution and by-laws of the proposed organization was presented and subsequently reviewed and edited by a steering committee composed mainly of the original proponents. This was followed by a General Assembly in January 21, 1999, which was highlighted by the presentation of the organization's objectives, plans, and by-laws which include the official name of AGSA. Said by-laws were then subjected into referendum for its ratification two months later.
Finally in July 15-23, 1999, the election of AGSA's first set of officers from among the founding members was conducted. A COMELEC was formed to plan and conduct the said election, It was chaired by Mr. Toti Casino, one of the original convenors, with Lauro Purcil and Evelyn Serafin as members
THE OFFICERS
Carolyn Castro, Salvador Mison, and Charito Plaza, however, withdrew due to personal and work-related reasons. As such, the next in the top fifteen were considered and notified to complete the AGSA Executive Board. They were Jose Delim Jr., Juancho Lalic, and Ma. Queenette Masancay.
The Board finally convened last August to elect among themselves the different positions at stake and to flesh out priority programs and activities of the organization. The final set of OFFICERS are as follows:
