PAGDUMALA
Pagdumala is an organization of Public Administration majors at the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance. Pagdumala, which is founded in 1999, is committed to the achievement and inculcation of excellence in public leadership and service as well as relevant and critical academic competence among PA students. The name of the organization means leadership and/or governance in Hiligaynon.
With its advocacy, research and training thrusts, the organization has firmly asserted its place in the college and the university through its unique and pioneering endeavors.
ACHIEVEMENTS
On its first year of existence, members have collectively instituted the following:
- research clinics in aid of students aiming to produce high quality academic papers/theses;
- seminars on effective oral presentation, improvement of study habits and skills, teambuilding, as well as project development and special interest development workshops;
- TEXT-Gen (Tackling Emerging and Existing Themes in Governance) Series, a university-acclaimed series of public fora, which had Senators Miriam Santiago and Raul Roco, among others, as guest speakers;
- Open-UP, an interactive discussion jamming in the expansive Pagdumala domicile where topics cater to the extra-curricular interests of UP students;
- Jammin’Jibe, regular movie marathon-cum-videoke sessions at the college lobby which aims to let otherwise stressed students unwind, sing, and just enjoy the company of friends.
Aside from these, Pagdumala, as testament to the capability and creativity of its people, participated in various College and UP-wide undertakings:

UPFair2000, as Fair.com org, the first PA student organization to have been invited as member of the organizing committee of this well known annual UP event and the semestral Alternative Classroom Learning Experience;

Lantern Parade 1998-1999/Belen Festival1999, chaired the design committees of NCPAG entries which won grand prizes;

First NCPAG Infoboard Competition, grand prize winner

Academic/Curriculum Review-UP NCPAG, in the revision of the BAPA course work
To date, all undertakings of Pagdumala have succeeded in terms of audience/client participation, which ranges from ten for each research clinic to more than three hundred for a TEXT-Gen Forum and the intractable number of participants to the movie marathon and videoke sessions we have sponsored.
PAGDAMULAGS
Credit goes to the painstaking effort and dedication of the members to conduct activities that fulfill the mission of Pagdumala and integrate these with the interests of the larger community to which it belongs. Pagdumala counts several officers of the NCPAG and University Student Councils, heads of other university organizations and political parties, College paper and annual editors, University and College Scholars and plainly interested public administration majors as founding and resident members. Five out of seven honor graduates including the class valedictorian of academic year 1999-2000 were Pagdamulags, as members fondly and self-deprecatingly refer to themselves.

Armed with experience and renewed vigor, resident members intend to pursue this record of excellence and further establish its presence in the university and society in the academic year 2000-2001. Dubbed"1 in 2000 & 2001", this year’s campaign aims to celebrate the first founding anniversary of the organization and achieve prominence by reaching agreater university and societal clientele through socio-civic, cultural, politico-academic undertakings in the context of publicl eadership and service.
