IDEA Asia-Pacific Seminar-Workshop on Citizens' Democracy Assessment Methodology

We are pleased and proud to announce that the UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES NATIONAL COLLEGE OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (UP NCPAG) is hosting an Asia-Pacific seminar-workshop on “Citizens’ Democracy Assessment Methodology” FROM 29-31 March 2011. The workshop is jointly sponsored by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (international IDEA) and the UP NCPAG. The seminar-workshop is held at the UP NCPAG Assembly Hall , Diliman, Quezon City Philippines.

International IDEA is an inter-governmental organization with 26 member-states and which has its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.

The seminar-workshop hopes to bring together representatives from civil society, the academe, government, and other advocates of democracy who have either done an assessment of democracy in their own countries, or those who might be interested to do a democracy assessment. The democracy assessment is located within the context of examining the state of democracy and how democracy assessment as a methodology could contribute to policy reform. It is hoped that the workshop could establish a network in the region that could provide technical assistance.

The seminar-workshop involves 14 countries including the Philippines. These countries are Maldives, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Jordan, Morocco, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, Fiji, Mongolia, Sweden, and Philippines.

Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon City and Swiss ambassador Ivo Sabier will host dinner for the guests.
